Plot Line
EXPOSITION- It starts by introduces Elie, his family, and Moshe the Beadle and every summer Moshe tells Elie stories. Moshe returns to warn the Jews of Germans taking over but they wont listen and it becoms to late. Nazi's begin by segergating the Jews by making them wear the star of David on their cloths and slowly begins to take over. When they take over they send the Jews to Birkenau where Elie and his dad get separted from his mom and sisters.
RISING ACTION- They survive the first seletion and when then they get there they see the gas chambers with smoke coming from the top. While at Birkenau they had to get new cloths and had to get shaved. Then they march to Auschwitz where Elie and his dad lie about their age and occupation so they can stay alive. This is the first time that Elie begins to question his faith. Then Elie and his dad are transferred to Burma where they have to work at factory sorting nuts and bolts. At the factory. While at Burma Elie's father gets beat because he asked to go to the bathroom. At the factory Elie meets a beatiful French girl that meets her again later in life in Paris. Elie get very angry at his dad for setting himself up for the beating. Elie also gets beat because he catches the Kapo messing around with a girl and gets wipped 25 times. Elie passes out durring the beating but never cries or pouts which makes the Kapo angry. Burma was bombed in an air raid and one prisoner was killed because he tried to eat the unattended soup. At Burma two men and one nine year old where hung because they were being dissobidient. Before the two men were hung the said long live liberty but the kid was silent because he did not understand the jewish religion. All of the Jews were forced to march by the hanging boddies and Elie realizes that the kid is suffering because he did not way enough to kill himself from the fall and Elie questions his faith again and this is where Elie said that God was murdered. The Nazi's want the Jews to believe that there was no God and thats why they hung the nine year old. Elie has to go into the hospital because his foot is swollen and he has to get surgery. Elie then has to make an important decision to make the journy to the next internment camp with his dad. They have to run 42 miles until they reach a town to rest. Elie and his keep eachother awake so they do not fall victim to hypothermia. Before they get to the next internment camp they have to ride on an open covered train while it snows heavily. Many Jews died from suffocation from all of the bodies on top of them. Juliek Elie's friend suffocates because of all of the bodies on top of them but plays his violen for the last time which Elie says is the sweetest sound. Germans through bread crumbs on the cars to watch the Jews fight over it. Eventually they reach Buchenwald internment camp but many Jews died on the way there. Elie and his father had 100 Jews on the train car and olny 12 of them made it out alive. At Buchenwald Elie's dad gets very sick and can not get out of bed any more. Elie's dad dies on January 28th, 1944. The last words of his dad were Eiezer.
The Nazi's took his dad in the middle of the night whil he was barely breathing.
CLIMAX- April 10th the Nazi's plan on emptying the camp and killing 20,000 more Jews. As the evacuation begins an air raid stops it and on April 11th, 1944 American troops storm Buchenwald.
FALLING ACTION- Elie gets food poisening and ends up in the hospital for a while but survives.
RESOLUTION- Elie looks at himself in the mirror and never sees a corpse glaring back at him. Since he left Sighet he has never been the same person ever again.
