Tones
Coming of Age
I think the main tone of the book is coming of age because Rob has to learn to be a man quickly. Rob has to be a man quickly when he witness Pinky dying, the passing of his father, and running the farm. Rob had to become a man when they had to kill pinky because they needed the food for winter and she could not produce a littler. Rob came of age when he saw his dad in tears and concluded that a man has to do things that they do not want to do but they have to get done anyways. He became more of a man when his dad passed too because he found his Haven's tools and his signature and realized how hard his dad worked in his lifetime. Lastly Rob became more of a man after the funeral and began working on the farm a lone a had to do his chores even on the day that his dad died because they have to get done and that is his mission. I think the author wanted to portray the story of a boy becoming a man. |
